Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are preparing for an emergency high-level military meeting following an increase in Houthi missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia.
According to Reuters, the meeting will focus on possible forms of support for Saudi Arabia under the countries' joint defense agreement.
The development is particularly significant because Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement on August 7, 2026. Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three countries is considered an attack against all parties.
Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications has also confirmed the agreement.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on September 21 that any military needs that may arise for Saudi Arabia would be assessed together with Pakistan within the framework of the Mecca Agreement.
The meeting is expected to address the regional security situation and possible steps the three countries could take in response to the latest developments in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Further details are expected to emerge following the meeting.
